Tesla India has leased over 24,000 sq ft of warehousing space in Kurla West, Mumbai, at a monthly rent of Rs 37.5 lakh. The facility, located within the Lodha Logistics Park owned by Macrotech Developers, marks another key milestone in Tesla’s strategic expansion across India. The lease agreement, finalized on May 16, includes a rent-free period of one month and ten days and a security deposit exceeding Rs 2.25 crore. Tesla will also pay maintenance charges of Rs 10 per sq ft monthly, with a 5% annual escalation clause.
The warehousing deal follows Tesla India’s recent leasing of a premium showroom at Maker Maxity in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex and plans for additional showrooms in Delhi NCR, along with an office in Pune. This new facility signifies Tesla’s commitment to establishing a robust electric vehicle ecosystem in India.
Though Tesla has no immediate plans to manufacture in India, the brand’s deliberate rollout—including commercial, logistics, and retail spaces—signals its long-term interest in the Indian EV market. Industry analysts view this warehousing lease not just as a logistical move, but a major statement of Tesla’s intentions to become a significant player in India’s emerging EV landscape.
