Mumbai’s Juhu Police have arrested Prince Kumar Sinha, 29, for attempting to defraud social media influencer Pooja Anandani by posing as an employee of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films. The suspect was apprehended after Anandani’s quick actions prevented her from falling victim to the scam.
The incident began when Sinha, using the alias ‘Rohan Mehra,’ approached Anandani with a fake job offer. He claimed to be involved in producing a film about the Nirbhaya case and invited her to a meeting in Juhu. Sinha’s deception included arranging a meeting at a local coffee shop, where he purportedly had a photographer take pictures of Anandani, claiming the photographer was affiliated with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
The deception continued with another meeting scheduled at the JW Marriott hotel in Juhu. However, Anandani, suspecting foul play, had already alerted the police. Officers intervened at the meeting point and arrested Sinha.
On April 3, Sinha had contacted Anandani via his mobile phone, pretending to be part of Cape of Good Films. Investigations confirmed that no such employee existed at the production house. Upon discovering the fraud, Anandani notified the production house, which then led to the involvement of the Juhu Police.
Anandani’s prompt reporting led to the registration of a case against Sinha and his subsequent arrest. This case highlights the rising instances of fraud in the entertainment industry and the critical need for vigilance. The Juhu Police praised Anandani’s vigilance, which prevented a major scam. Authorities continue to investigate the case and advise individuals to verify the authenticity of job offers and other opportunities to avoid similar frauds.
