He labeled the attack as a “systematic conspiracy.” Kharge alleged that the BJP workers were involved in similar acts against Congress offices in both Mumbai and Kolkata. He expressed gratitude toward Congress workers who defended their office from further damage.
Other leaders also spoke out against the attack. Vijay Wadettiwar, the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra assembly, highlighted troubling links between the incident and recent comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah’s remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on December 18 have created a political storm. Wadettiwar suggested that the attack on the Congress office was a diversion from the fallout over Shah’s comments. He demanded that action should be taken against the BJP workers involved in the vandalism. Moreover, he called for accountability against police officials if they were aware of the impending attack but did not intervene.

Bhai Jagtap, a Congress Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), supported Wadettiwar’s claims. He pointed out that the attack appeared to be premeditated, especially given its location near the police commissioner’s office. Jagtap stressed the historical significance of the Congress office, noting that it has been a meeting place for key figures like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Sardar Patel. He expressed disbelief that such a large group, estimated at 60 to 100 people, could vandalize the office without any resistance. Jagtap raised questions about the effectiveness of security measures in place.
